Hidden Treasures - Turtle Island and Rangko Cave

Beside the area of the Komodo National Park there are a lot of other natural treasures to explore. Heading by boat to the north of Labuan Bajo, we go to explore fabulous hideaways: Turtle Island and the Rangko Cave which is a rocky cavern filled with crystal clear water. A wonderful magical place to swim under the beauty of breathtaking stalagmites.

Itinerary

We pick you up at 8 in the morning from your hotel in the area of Labuan Bajo and bring you to the harbour. The crew help you to enter the boat from the pier. Our first stop is Bidadari Island. In case you snorkel the first time, we introduce you to the snorkeling equipment and show you how to breath under water. We are sure you get totally excited to see all the colorful fish swimming in the swarm around the beautiful coral reefs. The white sandy beach of Bidadari invites us to stroll around or just to take a short sun bath. Actually we are quite flexible in time today and we adapt to your needs. But be told, many other attractions will wait for us today.
After a more or less long ride over warm water, we reach a beach on the mainland of Flores and hike a short way through a forest path up to Labuan Bajo's hidden treasure called Rangko Cave. It is a rocky ocean cavern with crystal clear water, lit up to a bright turquoise colour by sunlight through the mouth of the cave. We descend into the cave through its wide mouth and then climb down the slippery rocks to the pool. We will swim, jump from the cliffs and let us be inspired from the gorgues beauty of the stalagmites and statalgtites. You can't imagine the beauty of this magical small paradise one can find almost at the end of the world.

In the afternoon we ride back on the boat to the area between Seraya Besar and Seraya Kecil. Tiny sandy and rocky islands, only around 200 meters in diameter, stick out of the crystal clear and warm water. It seems that they like to invite us to visit them. From time to time big sea turtles enter the beach to relax or to dig eggs into the sand. But this event is really rare to watch. If it is high tide the boat can go easily close to the beach and we will accept their invitation.

Further in the west there is a small round island with a huge white sandy beach and two coral reefs, each on one site. The reefs slope steep and deep from the beach into the sea. It is an fantastic spot for snorkeling and island exploring. Put on your snorkeling masks and your fins and let yourself drift with the current along the reef with its thousands of small and big and coloured fish. We will swim above huge coral trees, a different world compared what you can see on land.

In the late afternoon we return back to Labuan Bajo.
