New Komodo National Park fees for 2023
Finally and unexpected new Komodo National Park fees are published by the central government: Fees have increased drastically, affecting families in particular. The new fees became valid on 16th of April 2023.
But actually visitors in Labuan Bajo were still not charged with these new fees so far (22nd June 2023). We will let you know immediately when the fees become active in Flores.
Background: In August 2022 the Indonesian Government has already decided to increase the fees to 3.750.000 IDR apprx. 265 USD per person. Due to massive protests of the public, the government has finally revoked this decision. But as on 16th April 2023 the Komodo National Park authorities suddenly have modified the structure of the tarifs. Some the fees remain the same as in 2022, however there are significant changes. Luckily the drastically increase of the fees as suggested last year are far from being achieved. It is not yet known, whether the amount of visitors are limited to 200.000 persons per year.
The charges are split into national levels Komodo Park fees, regency level restribution and now additional fees for a business company owned by the provincial government in Kupang which has been granted a monopoly on 'Guiding Services'. The government owned company PT. Flobamor has a long list of fees in addition to the basic fees listed in the Komodo National Park fee table. However it is not known yet whether all of these additional and special fees will apply in the future.
The main changes are:
- an additional ticket for Padar Island --> 400.000 rp per person (before it was free of charge to visit Padar Isand)
- charging ranger guiding fees on Rinca Island per person (before it was for groups of maximum 5 persons)
- charging ranger guiding fees on Komodo Island per person (before it was for groups of maximum 5 persons)
- increase in ranger guiding fees on Komodo Island depending on the selected route and hike duration as well as the distinction whether the hike takes place on a Sunday/public holiday or a workday.
It is not yet known, whether the amount of visitors are limited to 200.000 persons per year.
